Expatriates' Seminars

Athens, November 7th, 2008

PRESS RELEASE

The Communication and Public Relations Department of Ktimatolgio S.A. issued the following release:

The second informative – training cycle of delegates coming from the major Greek Communities abroad regarding the new generation of cadastral surveys was completed. Officials of the Greek communities from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver attended a four-day training seminar at the company’s headquarters. The thematic sessions that were developed are as follows:
  1. Procedure about the submission of declarations for the Hellenic Cadastre by Expatriates and people residing abroad
  2. General information on issues relating to the Operative Cadastre
  3. On-line submission of declarations
  4. Ways of communicating with Ktimatologio S.A.
These informative – training seminars aimed at familiarizing attendees with the completion of ownership declarations, so that they can provide in their turn members of their communities with some initial instructions about the cadastral survey programme running in 107 regions of Greece. At the same time, attendees were informed on the operation of the Hellenic Cadastre, so that in the long run they can provide basic information about the cadastre when this becomes operative.

During the seminar, the officials attended a demonstration of how cadastral data is researched in the Hellenic Cadastre Informational System (SPEK) using different ways; they were also shown around at the Cadastral Survey Office of the Athens Municipality at Mavili Square. By November 21st, officials from the Greek communities of Oceania and America will have also attended a third informational cycle.

Since the beginning of the cadastral survey programme, Ktimatologio S.A. co-operated with the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) and later on with the largest expatriate organisations of Canada, Australia and the USA; this fact constitutes an innovation of the new generation cadastral survey. Along the lines of this co-operation, apart from the informational – training seminars held, the company’s management and executives participate with a special thematic session about the Cadastre in the Regional Conventions of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) in Canada, Europe, Australia and the USA, while informational material is distributed during the other three Regional Conventions in Russia, Egypt and Chile.

The President of Ktimatologio S.A., Mr. Christos Goulas, in his speech to the delegates of the Greek communities of Canada stressed the following:

«Ktimatologio S.A. is trying to come closer to Greek expatriates considering all possible ways and help them effectively to permanently settle their real estate property back home. Our main goal is that the news about the new cadastral survey programme in progress in Greece reaches everyone. But, this is not all. We aim beyond this, since the cadastral survey is not only about the submission of ownership declarations; it carries on to a second phase, during which declarations will be processed and more importantly the collected data will be publicly presented (suspended). At that point, all beneficiaries should participate once more, checking the contents of the suspended data and submitting objections or correction applications. Consequently, our co-operation, which began by reason of the new cadastral survey programme in progress in 107 regions, will continue throughout the cadastral survey as well as after that, when the Operative Cadastre begins. We thank the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) and the Greek Communities for their substantive service in briefing the expatriates and at the same time for multiplying our message most effectively and enthusiastically».
