The need to develop co-operations with public and private bodies, the management of spatial information towards a developmental direction, relationships with academic institutions and the constantly expanding applications of geographical positioning systems were some of the subjects debated along the lines of the conference held by the International Federation of Surveyors (F.I.G.) at Eilat, Israel on May 3-8, 2008. 

Ktimatologio S.A. was represented by its General Manager, Dr. Kostas Kiriazis, who had the opportunity to exchange views with 35 other Heads of National Organisations from all developed countries (United Kingdom, Australia, China, Israel etc.).

It was generally concluded that the international financial crisis does not seem to have affected the organisations’ operation. Yet, the methods used regarding the disposal of mapping data continued to remain an open issue; the dominant view is that the public sector needs to be dealt with under special conditions. The need for a close co-operation with the academic institutions both on the formation of their curriculum as well as on the fields of research and innovation was also underlined.
