No, this is not possible. After the initial registrations have been recorded in the cadastral books and the Cadastre has become operative in a region, you must follow the procedure for the correction of an initial registration. Your property may have been flagged to belong to an “unknown owner”. The law provides for the correction procedure either following the simple, quick and costless procedure of obvious error at the Cadastral Office or the voluntary (non-contentious) jurisdiction procedure that requires an application to the Cadastral Judge or obtaining a judicial decision, if it is about ownership litigations.

It is not foreseen that titles will be granted to the beneficiaries of the initial registrations. The cadastral survey procedure that leads to the initial registrations is only of an attestingnature, in the sense that it leads to attesting which standing rights are registrable in the cadastral books. Initial registrations, after the lapse of the deadline defined by law for taking legal action against them, become final and produce an irrefutable presumption of correctness; this way, transactions achieve legal certainty and bona fide transactors, who trust cadastral registrations, are protected.

a. If you know the KAEK of the property and you look for legal information on the registrable rights standing on this property, then a search will be conducted in the cadastral book and specifically in the cadastral sheet of the property. Furthermore, a search can be also conducted at the cadastral plans in order to attest the exact representation of the property in terms of its location and boundaries.
b. If you do not know the property’s KAEK but you know the details of the owner, then a search can be conducted in the alphabetical indexes based on the owner’s full name. If the owner is a married women, it is advisable that the search is conducted using both last names (maiden last name / husband’s last name). Finally, if the KAEK is unknown, the search at the cadastral plans can be conducted based on a topographicplan, in order to locate the specific property in the broader area.
